The best women’s fishing tournament in Australia!
Fishing, fun and friends for all skill levels
Girls Gone Fishin’ is a women’s only fishing competition held annually In the Top End of the Northern Territory. It brings together women from all walks of life and all parts of the country in search of the elusive barramundi.
Wet a line and have a wine
Launched in 2014, Girls Gone Fishin’ has grown each year with more than 200 participants in 50 teams taking part in 2019. Numbers are capped to make sure that everyone has a great time and you can find your own little patch of paradise to drop a line in.
Our teams are made up of women with all levels of fishing skills from serious anglers to enthusiastic beginners. Each team can include a male skipper but he’s not allowed to fish – he’s there purely to look after the boating duties and hand you a cold beer.
It’s more than just fishing!
At the end of each day’s fishing, teams return to camp for dinner in true GGF style. You can enjoy the welcome night where talk turns to strategy and secret fishing spots; the ‘Barralympics’ – our very own games night; and our famous – or infamous maybe - themed dress up night. These night are great fun and a great chance to really let your hair down and get to know your fellow competitors.
At the end of the competition we hold our presentation night where our winners are crowned, we say goodbye until next year and tell tall tales about the ‘one that got away.’ Presentation night is also a great opportunity to thank our generous sponsors who make GGF possible.
Leave the kids at home and have some you time!
Girls Gone Fishin’ is the perfect chance for you to take a break from regular life. No kids, no housework, limited phone reception, no tantrums – just a bunch of legendary women having a great time.
